Ethical Code of the “Alliance” Tattoo Studio

Purpose: The Ethical Code of the “Alliance” Tattoo Studio in Kyiv (hereinafter – the Studio) establishes the standards of professional and ethical conduct of employees and the organization as a whole. The Code aims to ensure a high level of service quality, the safety of clients and staff, confidentiality compliance, and the creation of a comfortable and non-discriminatory environment. The Code regulates client interactions, hygiene and safety standards, behavior on social media, principles of working with vulnerable groups, and responsibility for violations.

1. General principles

The “Alliance” Studio adheres to the principles of honesty, respect, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of its activities.

  • Honesty: Employees provide truthful information about services, approximate prices, and estimated completion times.
  • Respect: All clients and colleagues deserve polite, friendly, and impartial treatment regardless of their gender, age, nationality, religion, or other characteristics.
  • Integrity: Employees perform their duties conscientiously, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Professionalism: All actions are aimed at maintaining the Studio’s reputation as a reliable and professional establishment.

Example of inappropriate behavior: Providing a client with false information about the studio’s services. Solution: Conducting a clarifying conversation with the employee, possible warning or suspension from client work until additional training is completed.


2. Relations with clients

The “Alliance” Studio builds relationships with clients based on trust, transparency, and mutual respect.

  • Client information: Before any procedure, the client receives complete information about the process, risks, aftercare, and possible contraindications.
  • Refusal of service for medical/ethical reasons: The Studio has the right to refuse service if:
    • The client has medical contraindications (for example, skin diseases, pregnancy, allergies).
    • The client is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
    • The client’s request contradicts ethical principles (for example, offensive or discriminatory designs).
  • Communication: Employees communicate politely and clearly, using accessible language. All consultations are conducted according to the Studio’s guidelines.

Example of inappropriate behavior: Performing a procedure without answering all the client’s questions or agreeing on the cost in advance. Solution: Disciplinary conversation, retraining on the informed consent procedure, possible temporary suspension from work.


3. Professional behavior of employees

Studio employees must adhere to professional standards in communication, appearance, and performance of duties.

  • Communication: Employees use polite and professional language, avoiding personal topics that may cause discomfort to clients or colleagues.
  • Appearance: Clothing must be clean, neat, and compliant with the Studio’s standards.
  • Punctuality: Employees keep appointments on time and inform clients or artists about delays.
  • Ethical interaction with colleagues: Any form of pressure, insult, or disrespect among employees is prohibited.

Example of inappropriate behavior: Rudeness toward a client or colleague, being late for a session without notice. Solution: Clarifying conversation, possible written warning. Repeated violations may lead to suspension from work.


4. Sanitary and safety standards

The “Alliance” Studio adheres to the highest standards of hygiene and safety to protect the health of clients and staff.

  • Sterility: All surfaces are chemically disinfected. Cartridges (with needles), gloves, and other protective or auxiliary materials are single-use.
  • Disposable materials: Only single-use consumables are used (cartridges, ink containers, barrier film, wipes, etc.).
  • Disposal: Medical waste (needles, cotton pads, gloves) is disposed of in accordance with Ukrainian legislation through licensed companies.
  • Cleanliness of premises: Daily cleaning and disinfection of surfaces in work areas and restrooms.
  • Equipment safety: Regular inspection of technical equipment (laptops, PCs, lamps, printers, heaters, coffee machines, etc.).

Checklist for employees (visual, to be placed in work areas):

  • Check the availability of disposable materials before the session.
  • Disinfect the workstation before and after each client.
  • Ensure all tools are sterilized.
  • Dispose of waste in a designated container.
  • Check equipment functionality before starting work.

Example of inappropriate behavior: Using non-sterile instruments or reusing disposable materials. Solution: Immediate suspension from work, incident investigation, retraining on sanitary norms, possible dismissal.


5. Confidentiality and protection of client data

The “Alliance” Studio guarantees the protection of clients’ personal data in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Personal Data.”

  • Data collection: Only necessary data are collected: first name (surname not required), contact information, medical information (if necessary), tattoo description, and additional details (timeframes, preferences, etc.).
  • Storage: Data are stored in a protected database with limited access. Paper documents (consent forms) are kept in a safe.
  • Use: Data are used only for providing services and are not shared with third parties without the client’s consent.
  • Confidentiality of sketches: Sketches created for clients are not published without their permission.

Example of inappropriate behavior: Disclosing client information (for example, posting a tattoo photo without consent). Solution: Disciplinary action, possible client compensation, or dismissal.


6. Behavior on Social Media

Salon employees represent the “Alliance” brand on social media, so their behavior must be professional and comply with ethical standards.

  • Posts: All posts on behalf of the Salon are moderated by the administrator. It is prohibited to publish content containing discrimination, insults, or profanity.
  • Replies to comments: Employees must respond politely, promptly, and avoid arguments.
  • Personal accounts: Employees should not post content that could harm the Salon’s reputation.

Example of inappropriate behavior: Posting an offensive comment on behalf of the Salon. Resolution: Removing the post, issuing an official apology, conducting a disciplinary conversation, and possibly restricting access to social media.


7. Anti-Discrimination Rules and Work with Vulnerable Groups

The “Alliance” salon adheres to a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination based on any grounds (gender, age, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, etc.).

  • Inclusivity: All clients receive the same level of service. If this is not possible (e.g., lack of a ramp) or there are other inconveniences, we immediately inform the client.
  • Work with vulnerable groups: Employees undergo training on sensitive communication with people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Prohibition of discriminatory images: The Salon refuses to create tattoos that promote violence, hatred, or discrimination.

Example of inappropriate behavior: Refusal to serve a client because of their ethnic background. Resolution: Immediate suspension from work, investigation, mandatory anti-discrimination training, possible termination.


8. Regulations Regarding Minors

The “Alliance” salon complies with the laws of Ukraine regarding the provision of services to minors.

  • According to the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Childhood” and the Civil Code of Ukraine, individuals under the age of 18 may receive tattoo services only with written consent from parents or legal guardians.
  • Age restrictions:
    • Persons under 14 years old are not served.
    • Persons aged 14 to 16 may receive services only with written parental/guardian consent and in their presence during the procedure.
    • Persons aged 16 to 18 may receive services with written parental/guardian consent.
  • Document verification: The administrator verifies the client’s documents (passport or driver’s license) and parental consent.

Example of inappropriate behavior: Providing services to a minor without parental consent. Resolution: Disciplinary action, investigation, possible termination.


9. Responsibility and Disciplinary Measures

Violations of this Code result in disciplinary responsibility.

  • Types of violations:
    • Minor (e.g., lateness, providing incorrect information about services).
    • Serious (violation of sanitary standards, disclosure of client data).
    • Gross (discrimination, use of non-sterile instruments).
  • Disciplinary measures:
    • Verbal or written warning.
    • Retraining in relevant standards.
    • Temporary suspension from work.
    • Termination of the employment contract.
  • Review procedure: All violations are reviewed by Salon management within 5 business days. The employee has the right to provide an explanation.

Example: Violation of sanitary standards due to negligence. Resolution: Retraining, temporary suspension until compliance with standards is confirmed.


10. E-E-A-T: Staff Qualification and Training

The “Alliance” tattoo salon ensures a high level of expertise, experience, authority, and trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) among its employees, which forms the basis for quality service delivery.

  • Staff qualification:
    • The tattoo artists at “Alliance” are professionals with extensive experience (at least 5 years of practice). Their experience includes creating complex artistic works and mastering various tattoo techniques and styles.
    • Administrators undergo internal training in customer service, tattoo basics, post-procedure care, and safety principles to provide clients with professional consultations.
  • Professional development programs:
    • Artists annually attend advanced training courses conducted by well-known Ukrainian tattoo masters, allowing them to improve techniques, learn new trends, and enhance artistic quality. Upon completion, they receive certificates confirming participation and acquired skills.
    • Administrators regularly participate in training on customer service, communication, and conflict resolution to ensure a high level of service.
  • Quality and safety control:
    • Compliance with sanitary and safety standards is ensured by the artists’ experience, who independently apply advanced sterilization practices, use disposable materials, and manage waste properly.
    • Administrators and senior artists periodically inspect workstations, tools, and processes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Inclusivity training:
    • All employees (artists and administrators) undergo training on sensitive communication and working with vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities and individuals from diverse social backgrounds, to create a comfortable and non-discriminatory environment.

Visual staff checklist:

  • Complete an annual advanced training course with recognized tattoo artists.
  • Participate in a customer service or inclusivity training session.
  • Inspect the workstation for compliance with safety standards.
  • Review the latest tattoo trends.

This approach ensures that the “Alliance” team continuously improves its skills, meets modern industry standards, and maintains the Salon’s reputation as a reliable and professional establishment.


This Ethical Code is mandatory for all employees of the “Alliance” Salon and takes effect upon approval. Code violations are reviewed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine and the Salon’s internal procedures.
